Ruling on saying "Ya Ali Madad
Question :
What do the scholars of religion and Muftis of the Divine Law say regarding the issue of believing in saying "Ya Ali Madad"? Is the person who holds this belief in accordance with the Quran, Sunnah, and Hanafi Fiqh?
Answer: The slogan "Ya Ali Madad" is an innovation of the Shia, and it has no basis in the pure Shariah. Raising this slogan is merely an imitation of the Shia, from which the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah are free. This is because, apart from being a form of shirk, it also falls under the hadith (من تشبه بقوم فهو منهم)"Whoever imitates a people is one of them."
