Ruling on making sherbet and it drinking on the 10th of Muharram and the innovations associated with it
Question: Is it permissible to make and drink sherbet on the 10th of Muharram and to prepare and eat khichra?
Answer: The practices mentioned for Muharram are innovations (bid'ah). Making a tazia is a sin because it leads to many acts of shirk among the people. They seek intercession through it, offer sacrifices, and make vows for it. These actions are considered objectionable in Islamic law.
