Ruling on attending Muharram gatherings:

Question: Some people send their wives to Shia gatherings during Muharram so that they can participate in the remembrance of Sayyidina Hussain (R.A). Is this considered a sin according to Islamic law?

Answer: It is not permissible to send your wife to participate in such gatherings. Firstly, these gatherings themselves are not permissible, and furthermore, many unlawful acts (haram) are committed in these gatherings.
