Ruling on respecting and riding on Tazia and dealing with its bereaved

Ruling on respecting and riding on Tazia and dealing with its bereaved:

Question: What is the ruling on making and keeping Tazia at home, and offering vows and riding on it? What level of sin is it? Is it permissible to pray in a mosque where Tazia is kept? How should we deal with those who support and facilitate it despite knowing its impermissibility?

Answer: Making and keeping Tazia at home is a misguided innovation and a major sin. Respecting and honoring it is a form of polytheism (shirk). Similarly, offering vows and riding on it is forbidden and a form of polytheism. Keeping Tazia in a mosque is not permissible. If Tazia is kept in a mosque, it is undesirable to pray facing it. The mosque administration must remove the Tazia. Those who want to keep Tazia in the mosque and their supporters are severely sinful in the sight of Allah. One should avoid socializing, meeting, or greeting them until they sincerely repent from this sin.
