Ruling on imported meat from non-Muslim countries
Ruling on imported meat from non-Muslim countries:
Question: We find packets of meat or chicken here that come from Europe or other non-Muslim countries. It's unknown how they were slaughtered, and it's unlikely they recited the takbir during slaughter. Can Muslims consume such meat?
Answer: One should avoid consuming meat about which there is no certainty that it was slaughtered according to halal methods. Meat imported from Europe and other non-Muslim countries is not halal.'' (Jami'-ul-Fatawa, Volume: 8, Page: 223).
