Participating in heretical Gatherings
Question: Ayat:
وَقَدْ نَزَّلَ عَلَیْكُمْ فِی الْكِتٰبِ اَنْ اِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ اٰیٰتِ اللّٰهِ یُكْفَرُ بِهَا وَیُسْتَهْزَاُ بِهَا فَلَا تَقْعُدُوْا مَعَهُمْ حَتّٰى یَخُوْضُوْا فِیْ حَدِیْثٍ غَیْرِهٖۤ۔اِنَّكُمْ اِذًا مِّثْلُهُمْؕ:
Does it prove that all forbidden gatherings are illegitimate and distracted heretics or not? Zaid says that not at all, but he said to the gatherings of disbelief and mockery, to include other matters under it is to distort the words of Allah, so is Zaid's statement is correct or not? And in Tafaseer Ma'alum, the following verse is quoted from the saying of Hazrat Dahhak (رحمتہ اللہ علیہ).
قال ضحاک عن ابنعباس دخل في هذه الاية كل محدث في الدين و كل مبتدعة الي يوم القيامة:
Is this contrary to Zaid's statement or not?
Answer: This verse proves that non-participation in illegitimate gatherings is prohibited. Like in this kind of mockery is forbidden in the Book of Allah. علی ھذا: Heretics against Shari'a order are forbidden. As their participation is prohibited, so are other sins. And the meaning of Tafsir Dhahaq is that it is forbidden( Haram) to sit and participate in heretics. Your understanding is correct.
