The ruling on the Imamate of a person who holds the belief in the salvation of one who denies Tawhid and Risalat

Question: Zaid acknowledges Tawhid, Risalat, and all the necessary aspects of the faith, but also holds the belief that a person who only believes in Tawhid and rejects Risalat and the Quran will not remain in Hell forever, but will eventually be forgiven. Is it permissible to appoint Zaid as an Imam?

Answer: A person who does not acknowledge the Prophethood and Messengership of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and does not consider the Quran to be the Book of Allah, will not be considered saved by the majority of the Ummah of Muhammad (ﷺ). It is not permissible to appoint as an Imam a person who holds the belief in the salvation of such an individual.
